Henry Hohneschild became the State Architect in 1899, which opened the doors to the design & construction of a number of public projects. After establishing residence in Rolla, he quickly became one of its most influential architects, designing The Rolla State Bank, The Mining Laboratory for the Missouri School of Mines, & our Benton Square to name a few. It was originally built in 1909 as Benton School at Sixth & Cedar Streets. A century later, the building was restored to become known as Benton Square. Now, the building is owned by Dr. Caisie Nowack, owner & provider of Riverside Medical, along with her husband, Jared. When you visit us as Benton Square, you'll be able to stop by Dr. Nowack's Riverside Medical & Benton's 1909 Loft Boutique as well as a number of other businesses from restaurants to hair salons.
